Company History

The actual "Glider Service - Zar airfield" started operating in 1993 as a private enterprise under the name "Production and Repair of Composite Structures". The founders Jerzy Biskup and Henryk Mynarski decided to use their long-time experience earned both in PDPSz-PZL Bielsko" (in production of SZD glider) as well as in "ZRiPSL Edward Marganski" (in production of the SWIFT S-1 and MDM-1 FOX aerobatic gliders) to establish their own enterprise, focused on aircraft servicing and repair. It was among first companies, which gained the IKCSP Certificate No 06/95 authorising to perform maintenance and repair of almost all models of the SZD gliders and motorgliders, as well as SWIFT & FOX, PW-5, PW-6 and LAK. Having collected extensive experience, the company has specialised in the complex, post-accident repairs of severely damaged gliders, motorgliders and other light composite aircraft (broken tailboom, destroyed wing skin etc). In 2002 the reorganisation of the company took place. The firm has been taken -over by Jerzy Biskup (Mynarski undertook reconstruction of the "Glider Works Jezow"). Due to the change to a legal form and a name of the company to "WIRKK - Glider Service Jerzy Biskup", actualised was also the ULC Certificate No 006/01. In 2002 "WIRKK - Glider Service" has won also a Certificate of British Gliding Association, authorising to service and repair of all glider and motorglider models operated in Great Britain. Eng. Jerzy Biskup has gained the rating of "BGA Senior Inspector" No I/A/1289" authorising to perform the inspection (BGA CofA form) and to airworthiness extension of the gliders and motorgliders registered in Great Britain.
